I like the visual reminder of a person's faith and reverence that seeing you, or another woman, wearing mantilla brings. Thank you for sharing your journey of the decision to wear a chapel veil. And, by the way, even though I know it does not matter to you at all .. you look lovely in your mantilla.

I, too, have been pondering returning again to wearing a mantilla. I always enjoyed wearing one before, and as you said, I would positively naked before the Lord without one. On a couple of unexpected occasions of being in the sanctuary unprepared, I have grabbed Kleenex and placed it on top of my head. But I have no memory of stopping wearing a mantilla. I don’t remember thinking about stopping like I am thinking about starting to do so again. And I’m about no click - the buy button - away from making that final decision to do it, again. It does appear that it’s mostly younger women taking up the custom again, and I applaud them. I think it’s wonderful. As you pointed out, it reinforces one’s feminist and being set apart for a special purpose under God. And as the oldest person in my large and extended family, of which about 90% of us are Catholics, I feel a great responsibility to set an example for all the others. Another reason for me to resume my habit of wearing a mantilla, so I can lead all the others women in our family to present ourselves as a shining example of womanhood to the Lord. We have a special role to play in the building of the Kingdom of God, and wearing a mantilla reminds up of the sacredness of being female in God’s creation and in His Church. 🕊️
